A cold night and a hard frost, but payback came in the form of a lovely winter day with wall-to-wall sunshine. Remaining cold all day but with light winds and sunshine, it was quite pleasant.  High cloud developed towards the end of the afternoon, which meant temperatures dropped slowly after dark.
