Hail, wind, sun and heavy rain

Overnight wintery showers left some hail on the car first thing and maybe just a hint of snow. Drier by dawn but staying overcast, and with heavy rain forecast for later it didn't look promising.  However, the skies started to clear and by nine o'clock the sun was out and it was quite nice, if still fairly windy.

The favourable conditions lasted well into the afternoon, when cloud started to build and the rain arrived just before rush hour.  By evening, the promised downpour had arrived, giving us a spell of the heaviest rainfall since we started recording.  For the first time in a long while, the Oakdale Lake has returned in the field!
