The dry weather continued, but it was a marked contrast to yesterday; the blue skies and hours of sunshine gave way during the night to stubborn cloud that had drifted in from across the Pennines. Throughout the morning the cloud cover held firm, quite grey at times without ever really threatening rain. By lunchtime, one or two breaks began to appear and in the afternoon the sun started to win through. Really quite cold though in a quite raw easterly breeze.
